The methanol engine is a single cylinder, tilting, four stroke, ignition, air-cooled methanol engine, which is convenient to use and widely compatible, and is highly popular among users.

The correct use and careful maintenance of methanol machines are important guarantees for their normal and reliable operation, as well as maximizing their service life.

Security Warning

1. The methanol machine must operate in a well ventilated environment;

2. When adding fuel and engine oil, the machine must be stopped before adding;

3. During operation, there must be no fire hazards such as welding operations, smoking, etc. in the surrounding area;

4. Before use, please check if the fuel pipeline is intact. If there are any safety hazards such as cracks, please replace it before use;5. When refueling, please stay away from sources of fire. When refueling a hot engine, the engine should be turned off for 30 minutes before refueling. If there is any spillage, please wipe it clean to avoid danger.

Pre operation inspection

(1) Add engine oil

Attention: Remember to check the oil level when turning off the methanol engine on a flat surface.

a. Open the oil cap and clean the dipstick with a clean cloth;

b. Insert the oil dipstick into the fuel filler port without rotating it. If the oil level is below the lower limit of the dipstick, add oil;

c. Add engine oil to the upper limit of the oil dipstick;

d. Securely install the oil plug gauge.

(2) Add fuel

a. Open the methanol or gasoline tank cap;

b. Check the level of methanol or gasoline, and if the level is low, add the specified fuel; (As it is' specified ', fuel specifications/grades should be added. If not specified, the word' specified 'should be removed.)

c. Add fuel to the shoulder of the coarse filter screen;

d. Install the fuel tank cap.

(3) Air filter maintenance

a. Remove the clip and detach the air filter housing; Unscrew the nut and filter cover;

b. Unscrew the nut and washer, and then remove the filter element;

c. Separate the filter element;

d. Gently tap the filter element a few times.

 

Start the engine

Recoil start

(1) Remove any load from the AC socket;

(2) Close the AC circuit breaker;

(3) Check the methanol/gasoline conversion switch. When the ambient temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius or the engine is cold, turn the switch to the "0" position and start with gasoline. When the ambient temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius or the engine is hot, turn the switch to the "1" position and start with methanol;

(4) Place the engine switch in the "ON" position;

(5) Gently pull up the starting gripper until resistance is felt, then pull it up with force;

Warning: Do not let the startup handle bounce back after starting, gently place the handle back!

(6) If starting with gasoline, run for a few minutes after starting, then turn the switch to the "1" position and switch to methanol operation.

Electric start

(1) Remove any load from the AC socket;

(2) Close the AC circuit breaker;

(3) Check the methanol/gasoline conversion switch. When the ambient temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius or the engine is cold, turn the switch to the "0" position and start with gasoline. When the ambient temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius or the engine is hot, turn the switch to the "1" position and start with methanol;

(4) Turn on the engine start switch and wait for three seconds;

(5) Continue to turn the engine start switch, and immediately release the electric start switch after the engine starts;

(6) If starting with gasoline, run for a few minutes after starting, then turn the switch to the "1" position and switch to methanol operation.

Engine usage method

To maintain the generator in optimal mechanical and electrical condition, please follow the following instructions:

Caution: To prevent electrical misuse, it is essential to ground the generator!

(1) The total electrical power carried shall not exceed the rated power of the generator;

(2) Electrical equipment, especially motor drive devices, generate a large starting current during startup;

(3) When connecting two or more loads to the generator, please connect the loads with higher starting current in sequence;

Note: When connecting the generator to a household power source, it should be done by someone familiar with electrical engineering;

After connecting the load to the generator, check if the connection is correct. If not connected correctly, it may cause damage or fire to the generator.

(4) Connect the AC circuit breaker.

Note: Overload current will automatically close the AC circuit breaker. If it is turned off, stop for a few minutes while reducing the load, and then restart the generator.

 

Stop the engine

(1) Close the AC circuit breaker;

(2) Turn off the engine switch;

(3) Remove any load;

Note: If the generator needs to be stopped urgently, the engine switch can be set to "OFF"

(1) Change the engine oil

a. Open the fuel cap;

b. Unscrew the oil bolt and drain the engine oil completely;

c. Install the oil drain bolt and tighten it;

d. Add engine oil to the upper limit of the oil dipstick; Engine oil capacity 1.1L;

e. Install the oil plug gauge.

Recommended engine oil: SE, SF or equivalent SG grade (SAE10W-30) engine oil for four stroke methanol engines;

When the temperature is below 10 ° C, it is recommended to use SAE10W-30;

When it is cold (temperature below -15 ° C), please use API classification SE, SF, or equivalent SG grade SAE5W-30 engine oil.

(2) Spark plug

a. Remove the spark plug cap;

b. Remove the spark plug;

c. Clean up carbon deposits;

d. Measure the gap between spark plugs;

e. Install the spark plug and spark plug cap.

(3) Replacement of fuel filter

a. Before disassembling the fuel filter, the generator must be shut down for at least half an hour to allow the engine to cool down sufficiently;

b. Grasp the filter with one hand and hold the quick connector with the other hand. First, push the quick connector inward and use two fingers to press the gray buttons on both sides of the quick connector. After pressing, pull the quick connector outward (note: there is residual pressure in the pipeline, and there may be splashing when removing the quick connector). Use the same method to remove the quick connector on the other end of the filter;

c. Install a new filter, apply a small amount of clean lubricating grease on both ends of the filter, insert the quick connector into both ends of the filter, pay attention to the "IN" and "OUT" of the filter, and do not insert them backwards;

d. Start the generator and check for leaks in the quick connector after it runs smoothly.

 

Safekeeping

(1) Drain the methanol and gasoline from the fuel tank;

(2) Disconnect the filter and drain the methanol and gasoline from the filter cup;

(3) Unscrew the oil plug and drain plug, and then drain the oil;

(4) Install the drain plug and add engine oil to the upper limit of the oil dipstick;

(5) Gently pull up the starting lever until resistance is felt;

(6) Place the generator set in a clean area.

 

Fault repair

(1) Troubleshooting procedure for engine failure to start;

a. Is the engine switch in the "ON" position;

b. Check the fuel;

c. Check the engine oil;

d. Check the spark plug;

e. Send to maintenance station.
